Shelter Arc Build delivered the full internal fit-out of a blank concrete industrial unit in the Byron Bay Arts & Industrial Estate, converting it into a showroom, design studio, warehouse and workspace for interior designer Natalie Walton.
Working closely with Natalie to bring her ideas and design to life, we built everything inside the shell – the entry vestibule, the mezzanine carrying the studio and kitchen, the bank of salvaged windows set into the six-metre wall, an arched timber door through to the warehouse, the staircase and bathroom.
The interesting challenges on this job were the ones you can’t see in photographs – hiding the steel framework, and turning a factory unit into something that transports you the moment you walk through the door. Finishes included lime plaster, cork, travertine and hardwood.
